Visa Requirements

Do you know that most people who apply for an Australian visa do not even understand the basics?

We make it simple so you can understand it!

Visa Requirements

What are the requirements for Australian visas?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. Although the requirements vary for different visas, there are some general requirements which apply to almost all Australian visas.

General requirements that you must meet when applying for a visa

Health

Most visa applicants are required to meet minimum health standards before a visa can be granted. The Department might assess your health as part of the visa application process.

Character

There can be a requirement that you are of “good character” which basically means no criminal record.

Existing debts to the Australian Government

If you or any family members (including those who don’t apply for the visa with you) owe the Australian government money, you or they must have paid it back or arranged to pay it back before you apply.

Have enough money for your stay

You must have enough money to pay for your stay in Australia.

Obey any condition attached to your visa

If you are currently on an Australia visa, you must comply with all the conditions attached to that visa.

Genuine intention

You must be a genuine temporary entrant and must intend on returning to your home country after your visa expires.

Other requirements based on the specific visa

Skill or qualification requirement

Some visas require you to provide proof of the skill or level of education you claim to have.

Age limit

Visas like Skilled Independent visa requires applicants to be below a certain age limit.

Health insurance

Most substantial visas that allow applicants to stay in Australia for more than a few months require applicants to have and maintain adequate health insurance for the whole duration of their stay. This will be an ongoing additional expense that you need to take into account.

Level of English Language

Almost all the work visas and student visas require the applicants to provide evidence of their English language skills. That means you need to achieve a certain score on an approved English language test and the test must have been taken recently.
